GitHub alternatives
SourceHut
My impression of SourceHut so far:
- Aggressively anti-social, in that there is no supported way to “follow” another user. You can subscribe to the RSS feed of a given repo, but that’s about it.
- Doing “view source” on any given page reveals some very tight, sturdy markup.
- The site is pretty ugly though, even if minimalism is what you’re going for.
- The various services (git, mailing lists, issues tracker, wiki) are almost completely disconnected from each other. You can create a “project” that is a loose hub for linking related things together, but once you click through to, say, a git repo, there is nothing to link it directly to its issues tracker. I much prefer GitHub or Fossil where everything about a project is integrated in one place.
